The
traditional frozen rubber, our CER 01, has to be pressed at
125/128°C, both the upper and the lower press plates.
The vulcanisation time is 12/15 minutes for normal punches,
pressed with 90, 95 and 98/100 shore rubber and 30/35 minutes
for isostatic punches, pressed with 80 and 85 shore rubber.
Mainly
there are two reasons why the time is longer for pressing isostatic
punches compared to pressing normal punches:
- the rubber is softer because the quantity of the products
active
In the vulcanization is smaller so the rubber is less reactive
- on isostatic punches the vulcanised rubber quantity (the
remaing layer) is bigger if compared to the normal punches.
Bigger rubber quantity means longer time to get perfect vulcanisation
and complete cross-linking of the rubber layer .
Our
Long Life rubber, Cer 03/C, has to be pressed at 140°C.
the vulcanisation time is 35 minutes.
For
the press plate’s temperature we always recommend our
customers to check it with a digital thermometer as the one
stated on the press’ display is normally not so accurate…
